If you are interested in becoming an au pair, then our registration and services to you are free of charge.
In exchange for hospitality provided by the host family you will help to care for the children and take on light housework duties and baby sitting up to 2 evenings a week.
An Au Pair can work up to 25 hours per week normally spread over 5 days, being 5 hours per day, with 2 full days off each week. Some baby sitting in the evening may be required which will be no more than 2 evenings per week inclusive for your payment of pocket money. If more baby sitting is required form the family for the evening other than the 2 days then it is up to you to communicate with your family to do this. If you do extra baby sitting then the host family will pay you extra.

What is expected of an Au-Pair

As an au pair you have to be a single person between the age of 17 and 27, without dependents who wish to travel to the United Kingdom/European Union to live with a family so that you can learn the host nation Language and gain experience and understanding on their culture and ways of life. You will be treated as one of the family assisting in caring for the children in the home. If any children are at school then you may be required to drop off and pick up the children to and from school or their meeting area (host families will advise you of this in their registration form). As an au pair who will also need to help out with housework duties i.e. vacuuming, dusting , ironing, preparing light meals etc.
The majority of families are looking for long term au pairs. Some au pairs stay with their host families from 6 months to 2 years.

As an au pair coming to the UK you will be responsible for paying for your transport to come over to England. The host family will meet you at your destination whether it is at an airport, bus station, train station or port.
The pocket money to be expected does vary on whether you will be an au pair or au pair plus. A normal au pair working 25 hours per week will receive £60 per week pocket money which is regulated to government standards and an au pair plus can expect to receive between £80 -90 per week pocket money.
